Acoustic guitars
Atkin
English handcrafted acoustics, heirs to the American golden age.
Founded in 1995 by Alister Atkin, fresh out of the London School of Furniture, the brand began in a modest workshop near Canterbury, in Kent. Having worked on restoring pre-war American acoustics, the luthier drew on this study of vintage instruments to build his own craft, before growing the house into a small workshop of some fifteen people.
Each guitar is still hand-assembled, using selected woods and close attention to every detail that affects tone and feel. The brand draws on pre-war Martin and Gibson models and cultivates an aged aesthetic, with weathered finishes that give a new instrument the look of a piece played for decades. From the workshop's perspective, it is these guitars with strong character, sitting between historical reference and comfortable playability, that stand out.
