D’Addario
An Italian-American line of string makers.
The D'Addario family has been making strings since the seventeenth century in the village of Salle, in Abruzzo. It was in 1905 that the first D'Addarios settled in New York, where the current company took shape, first under the name J. D'Addario & Company, then simply D'Addario.
Now based in Farmingdale, the house supplies acoustic, electric and classical guitar strings (Pro-Arté), orchestral strings (Kaplan, Helicore) and Rico/Reserve reeds. A large part of production remains based in the United States.
