Classical guitars
Hanika
A German family manufacturer of classical concert guitars.
Founded in 1953 by Helmut Hanika, a luthier from the Egerland tradition established in Franconia, the house first devoted itself to various string instruments before focusing, from the mid-1960s, on the classical concert guitar. The workshop is today run by Armin Hanika, the founder's son and a master luthier, who carries on a know-how passed down over two generations from Baiersdorf.
Each guitar is largely built by hand, from selected solid woods, across an extensive range running from student models to master instruments and custom commissions. The manufacturer adds recognized technical choices, such as the lattice top or reversed bridge, and documents wood provenance with a certificate. From the workshop's perspective, this clear progression between series and the option of a made-to-measure instrument make it easier to advise according to the musician's level and project.
