Classical and flamenco guitars
Picado
Spanish guitars built in a craft workshop in Berga.
Picado guitars are built in a craft workshop in Berga, in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia. The workshop’s official website recalls its origins in the legacy of Guitarras Picado and its attention to detail, tonal sensitivity and careful selection of woods. Its output includes classical guitars, flamenco guitars and special models.
According to the workshop, the woods are naturally dried and have rested between 10 and 35 years in its premises, bought from specialist dealers in Spain. The tops are red cedar from Canada, spruce from Germany, Romania or Austria, or Engelmann spruce from Canada. The neck is Honduran cedar and the fingerboard is ebony from Cameroon and Nigeria. For the back and sides, models 53, 54 and 60 usually receive Indian rosewood, or Spanish cypress for the flamenco guitars, while model 62 and the concert models usually receive Madagascar rosewood. In the store, these model-by-model details make it possible to advise according to the sound sought and the budget.
