Violins, violas and cellos
Racz
A family of Bohemian violin makers building by hand, since 1994.
Violin-Rácz is the workshop of the Rácz family in Luby u Chebu, in western Bohemia, a small town with a long violin-making tradition. Petr Rácz has built instruments under his own name there since 1994, today together with his son Michal, also a master violin maker.
The violins, violas and cellos are built by hand using old techniques. The maker mostly works from Stradivari and Guarneri del Gesù models, with Italian spruce and Bosnian maple naturally dried for 30 years, and a varnish mixed from a hundred-year-old Italian recipe based on purely natural resins.
